# Shark Jack Display Basics

## Getting to know the Shark Jack Display

The Shark Jack Displays builds on its predecessors, the Shark Jack and Shark Jack Cable. The Display version, with its sharp LCD display and intuitive rocker switch, enable interactive payloads and a simplified on-device payload library and loot management system.

## Charging

The Shark Jack Display features a user-serviceable lithium battery. Please read all instructions before use and familiarize yourself with the important safety information and warnings.

To charge, plug the Shark Jack Display into an ordinary USB-C charger, such as a 5V 1A charger for a modern smartphone, or a USB-C cable from a computer's USB port. The status LED will indicate <mark style="color:red;background-color:red;">red</mark> while charging, and <mark style="color:green;background-color:green;">green</mark> when fully charged.

The Shark Jack Display may also be charged while operating by using an ordinary USB battery bank or similar power supply. The status LED will not indicate red while charging, as payload LED status will take precident. Instead, the charging status may be checked from the <kbd>About > System</kbd> menu.

## Powering On

To power on the Shark Jack Display, follow the steps below:

1. Hold the rocker switch in for 3 seconds, then release when the LED lights <mark style="color:green;background-color:green;">green</mark>&#x20;
2. The LED will turn off for 6 seconds, then blink <mark style="color:blue;background-color:blue;">blue</mark> while the Hak5 logo appears on the display

## Deployment

The Shark Jack Display is meant to be deployed against a target network for reconnaissance, exfiltration and IT automation tasks. With a fully charged battery, the Shark Jack Display will operate for about 25-35 minutes.

Out-of-the-box, a set of pre-installed recon payloads are included for quick nmap scans, LLDP discovery and client intelligence gathering, as well as utility payloads for connection testing and IP information.&#x20;

## Powering Off

To power off the Shark Jack Display, hold the rocker switch for 3 seconds — until the LED and display turn off — then release.
