# Firmware Recovery

To completely reset your Shark Jack Display, a factory reset process is included.

This will *completely* reset your Shark Jack Displa ! Be sure to save any configuration, payloads, and any other changes you may have made before performing a factory reset!

#### Resetting the Shark Jack Display  <a href="#resetting-the-packet-squirrel" id="resetting-the-packet-squirrel"></a>

1. Download the latest Shark Jack Display firmware from the [Hak5 Download Portal](https://downloads.hak5.org/shark/display)&#x20;
2. Power off the Shark Jack Display (if powered on)
3. Plug the Shark Jack Display into a USB power source
4. Attack the Shark Jack Display to your computer's Ethernet interface &#x20;
5. Hold the button button for 10 seconds. During this time, the LED will slowly blink green 6 times. Release the button when the LED quickly blinks green.
6. Wait for the Shark Jack Display to enter recovery mode (no LED or screen indication) and your computer to obtain a the IP address `172.16.24.24` from the Shark Jack Display's DHCP server.
7. Browse to the recovery interface at [http://172.16.24.1](http://172.16.24.1/)

Follow the on-screen guide to upload and flash the latest firmware.

Connect the USB-C power cable now before starting the flashing process.

DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR SHARK JACK DISPLAY DURING THE FLASHING PROCESS. Doing so may render your device unbootable!

After flashing, your Hak5 Shark Jack Display will reboot automatically.

If you encounter errors uploading the flash file, ensure you have no browser plugins which may interfere with Javascript or other page delivery mechanisms. For some browsers, uploading the firmware image from a private or incognito window may resolve issues.
