# Troubleshooting FAQ

**Out of the box my Signal Owl is not flashing the upgrade-x.x.x.bin file from my USB flash disk.**

Make sure that the USB flash disk is formatted in FAT32 or EXT3/EXT4 filesystem and has a single partition. A newly formatted USB disk works best. Also make sure that the upgrade file has not been renamed, and that it is located on the root of the USB flash disk.

**I can connect to the Owl\_xxxx WiFi SSID in Arming mode, however I can't access the shell via SSH**

The first time the Signal Owl boots into Arming mode, SSH keys are generated. This process can take a few minutes - during which time the SSH server will be inaccessible. Leave the Signal Owl in Arming mode for a few minutes, then try again.<br>
