# SET\_BANDS

`PINEAPPLE_SET_BANDS` - set the Wi-Fi bands for Recon channel hopping

### When to use it

The Pineapple Recon engine hops between channels to build a view of the entire Wi-Fi spectrum. Channels are organized into bands (2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz). Disabling bands will increase the rate the channels on the remaining bands are monitored.

### Syntax

```none
PINEAPPLE_SET_BANDS [interface] {2} {5} {6}
```

**interface**

Interface to apply the band selection to. Typically this is `wlan1mon` - the tri-band monitor radio in the Pager.

**2 (optional)**

Enable the 2.4GHz band

**5 (optional)**

Enable the 5GHz band

**6 (optional)**

Enable the 6GHz band

### Results

The band selection is changed immediately.

### Examples

```bash
PINEAPPLE_SET_BANDS wlan1mon 2
```

```bash
PINEAPPLE_SET_BANDS wlan1mon 2 5 6
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://documentation.hak5.org/wifi-pineapple-pager/wifi-pineapple-commands/set_bands.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
